The 6th Annual University of Toronto Sports and Business Association (UTSB) Sports Industry Conference is set to bring together some of the biggest names in sport and business. This year’s theme is “Positioning in Sports” and will feature speakers from the brand, agency, and league sides of the business, culminating with a keynote address from Toronto Maple Leafs’ President Brendan Shanahan.
“Brendan Shanahan combines tremendous experience and evident acumen with an unwavering candour.”
“Brendan Shanahan combines tremendous experience and evident acumen with an unwavering candour,” said UTSB President Melanie Yu. “A large part of his value to us comes from his willingness to engage in meaningful conversation and provide transparent accounts to others. As an influencer in sports, we know that his advice will be equally efficacious and authentic. There is a lot we have to learn from him.”
Beyond the stage, attendees will have access to sports organizations that is unique to this conference. “We have curated an integrated networking platform that will see ambassadors from the industry sit amongst attendees,” explained Matthew Heidstra, VP Corporate Relations with the Rotman Sports Business Association. “These conversations have the potential to be incredibly impactful for attendees.”
“We promise that attendees will leave the conference changed for the better and furthered towards their goals.”
From sports fans to students to career starters to established professionals, organizers promise that there is something for everyone to take away from the event. “Expect to be provoked, challenged, inspired, and empowered by the insights shared by the speakers and the conversations with other attendees. We promise that attendees will leave the conference changed for the better and furthered toward their goals.”
The conference takes place this Friday and Saturday at the Rotman MBA Building. For more information on speakers and tickets, visit sportsandbusiness.ca.
